About the United Cup tennis tournament
United Cup is a mixed national team tennis tournament that was first held in 2023. The tournament was organized by the Association of Tennis Professionals (ATP) and the Women’s Tennis Association (WTA). The United Cup is held slightly before the Australian Open and is therefore a preparatory stage before the more challenging event. In total, teams from 18 countries participate in the new tennis competition.

2025 United Cup
The third United Cup tennis tournament will be held in Perth and Sydney, Australia, from December 27, 2024 to January 5, 2024. The tournament will feature teams from eighteen countries: Greece, Poland, USA, Spain, Italy, France, Australia, Croatia, Switzerland, Germany, Brazil, Belgium, Czech Republic, Great Britain, Argentina, Norway, Bulgaria, Kazakhstan. Six countries qualified based on the ATP rankings. Another six based on the WTA rankings and the last based on the combined ranking of the number one players in the ATP and WTA rankings.
The current champion of the United Cup tournament is the team from Germany.
Notable participants this year include such stars as Iga Swiatek and Hubert Hurkacz from Poland, Stefanos Tsitsipas and Maria Sakkari from Greece and Alexander Zverev from Germany. The tournament gives players the opportunity to compete in both singles and doubles, combining men’s and women’s matches for team points.
The 2025 edition promises intense competition as teams battle for supremacy in this innovative format, which serves as a great precursor to the Australian Open. Group stage matches will determine the finalists, who will then compete in Sydney for the championship. The event reflects tennis’ growing focus on gender balance and co-ed play.
