The World Cycling Tournament season 2022 began in the UAE on February 20 and was supposed to end with the Tour of Guangxi on October 18, but it was cancelled. The Giro di Lombardia is the final cycling race of the 2022 UCI World Tour season. It will take place on 8 October.
History of the UCI World Tour
Since 2005, the ranking of the world’s top cyclists has been based on points in races under the UCI ProTour auspices. As a result of a conflict between the management, several important cycling races dropped out of the Pro Tour schedule. Nevertheless, since 2009, points have been given even for those races that have been withdrawn from the calendar. For the time being, the rankings are not only individual, but also team and national.
