About the United Cup tennis tournament

United Cup is a mixed national team tennis tournament that was first held in 2023. The tournament was organized by the Association of Tennis Professionals (ATP) and the Women’s Tennis Association (WTA). The United Cup is held slightly before the Australian Open and is therefore a preparatory stage before the more challenging event. In total, teams from 18 countries participate in the new tennis competition.

2023 United Cup

The first United Cup tennis tournament was hosted in cities across Australia from 29 December 2022 to 8 January 2023. Teams from the following countries participated in the tournament: Greece, Poland, USA, Spain, Italy, France, Australia, Croatia, Switzerland, Germany, Brazil, Belgium, Czech Republic, Great Britain, Argentina, Norway, Bulgaria, Kazakhstan. Six countries qualified based on ATP rankings. Another six based on WTA rankings and the latter based on the combined number one ranking of players in the ATP and WTA rankings.

The first champion of the United Cup tournament was a team from the United States, which faced the Italian team in the final.

2024 United Cup

Many athletes have already started preparing for the tournament, which will begin on 29 December 2023 and end on 7 January 2024. Traditionally, the tournament will be held in Australia a week before the Australian Open. The official website of the tournament has already published the list of countries that have confirmed their participation: Spain, Great Britain, Czech Republic, China, Poland, USA, Serbia, Netherlands, Norway, Italy, Germany, Canada, Croatia, France, Greece, Australia.
