2025 World Series of Poker

The 2025 World Series of Poker (WSOP 2025) will be held in Las Vegas from May 27 to July 16. The venues will traditionally be the Horseshoe and Paris Las Vegas casinos — for the fourth year in a row, the main events of the series are held there.

This year, the organizers will set a new record — the schedule will include as many as 100 tournaments with buy-ins ranging from $300 to $250,000. The list of formats includes the popular No-Limit Hold’em, Pot-Limit Omaha, Seven Card Stud and other types of poker.

The main event will be the Main Event with a buy-in of $10,000 in the No-Limit Hold’em discipline. It will start on July 2 and last until mid-July. It is expected that the winner will take home about $10 million, and about 15% of the participants will receive payments.

History of the Tournament’s Creation and Development

The history of the World Series of Poker (WSOP) dates back to 1970. At that time, the famous poker player Benny Binion decided to organize a tournament to determine the best player in the world and to promote poker as a sporting game.

The first WSOP was held at Binion’s Horseshoe Casino in Las Vegas. Surprisingly, only six players competed for the $30,000 prize pool. The winner was Johnny Moss, who was voted best by the other players.

Over the years, the WSOP has become increasingly popular among amateur and professional poker players. The number of entrants and the tournament’s prize pool grew steadily. In addition, the tournament itself became a symbol of excitement and rivalry in the poker world.

In 2003, the poker world was shocked by the victory of amateur player Chris Moneymaker in the WSOP Main Event, where he won $2.5 million. This triumph brought poker to the attention of millions and helped popularize the game.

Today, the WSOP is one of the largest and most prestigious poker tournaments in the world. Each year, hundreds of players from around the world gather in Las Vegas to compete for the WSOP title and huge cash prizes.
