Hockey Tournament among Islamic countries

The Ice Hockey Tournament among Islamic Countries is an international hockey tournament which will be held between the athletes of Islamic countries. It was decided to hold this sporting event in May 2022 during the “Russia-Islamic World: KazanSummit 2022” International Summit. The aim of the hockey tournament is to bring nations together and build partnerships between states.

2026 Ice Hockey Tournament among Islamic countries

There is currently no official information about holding the Islamic Hockey Tournament in 2026. However, given the success of the previous tournaments, it can be expected that the event will be held again.

Expectations for 2026

The Organization for the Development of Hockey in Islamic Countries (ORHIS), established in 2023, is actively developing hockey in countries with a predominance of the Islamic religion. Given the success of the previous tournaments and the growing interest in hockey in these countries, it can be expected that a new tournament will be held in 2026.

History of the Islamic Hockey Tournament

Islamic Hockey Tournament is a new international sporting event that was first held in Kazan in January 2023. The idea of its creation arose in order to develop hockey in countries with a predominance of the Islamic religion and strengthen friendship between such countries.

First tournament brought together more than a dozen men’s and women’s teams from different countries, including Kazakhstan, Iran, the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Kyrgyzstan and others. The winners were the teams of Tatarstan, the UAE and mixed teams.

Following the success of the first tournament, the ORKHIS organization was created – the Organization for the Development of Hockey in Islamic Countries, which helps to hold competitions and develop this sport.

In 2024 and 2025, tournaments were also held in Kazan, bringing together teams from Azerbaijan, Turkey, Pakistan, Lebanon, Bahrain and other countries. In 2025, the competition was held in a 3×3 format, which added dynamics and interest to the games.

The main goal of the tournament is to popularize hockey among Islamic countries, develop sports and strengthen friendly ties between the participating countries.
