About Islamic Countries Ice Hockey Tournament
The Ice Hockey Tournament among Islamic Countries is an international hockey tournament which will be held between the athletes of Islamic countries. It was decided to hold this sporting event in May 2022 during the “Russia-Islamic World: KazanSummit 2022” International Summit. The aim of the hockey tournament is to bring nations together and build partnerships between states.
2023 Ice Hockey Tournament among Islamic countries
The dates for the first hockey tournament are set for 13-19 January 2023. Among the participants will be men’s and women’s amateur teams from the UAE, Bahrain, Oman and Kuwait, Lebanon, Egypt, Morocco, a combined team from Algeria and a team from Tatarstan. Presidents of the national federations of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Turkey, Thailand, Indonesia, Iran, Saudi Arabia, Qatar and Malaysia are also planning to visit Kazan. According to the Hockey Federation officials, the event could be the start for bringing ice hockey into the Islamic Games program.
