About the European Basketball Championship
EuroBasket is an international tournament for European men’s basketball teams, held every four years under the auspices of FIBA. The European Women’s Basketball Championship takes place every 2 years.

EuroBasket 2025 is the European Basketball Championship, which will bring together the best teams of the continent. Here’s what we know about the tournament.
Where and when will it take place
The 2025 European Basketball Championship will be held in Latvia, Cyprus, Finland and Poland. This will be the first time that the tournament is hosted by four countries at once. The competition is scheduled for August and September 2025: August 27 – September 14. Fans can expect matches in modern arenas and a unique atmosphere created by the host countries.
Favorites
- Slovenia: With Luka Doncic in their lineup, the Slovenian national team is one of the main contenders for victory.
- Serbia: An experienced team with a strong roster, always ready to fight for medals.
- France: A young and talented team that consistently demonstrates a high level.

History of European Basketball Championships
EuroBasket has been held since 1935 and is the oldest basketball tournament among national teams.
The International Basketball Federation, founded in 1932, decided to “rehearse” before basketball was introduced in the Olympics. So, in 1935 they decided to hold the European Basketball Championship in Geneva. 10 teams took part in the first tournament. Victory in the tournament was won by the Latvian national team.
The USSR team became the European champion 14 times, followed by Yugoslavia in second place with 8 times. Currently, the title holder is Slovenia.

The next EuroBasket is scheduled for 2027. The venue has not yet been announced, but it is expected to be held in one of the leading basketball countries in Europe. We are really looking forward to this important event in the basketball world!
