About the Bahrain Grand Prix
The Bahrain Grand Prix is a round of the Formula One World Championship.
The Bahrain Grand Prix is the first Grand Prix in the history of Formula One to be held in the Middle East. Its first race was held in 2004.
2026 Bahrain Grand Prix
In 2026, the fourth round of the Formula 1 championship, the GrandPrix Bahrain, will take place at the Bahrain International Circuit in Sakhir. It is scheduled for April 10–12. The same track, known as the “Home of Motorsport in the Middle East”, will also host two pre-season tests for the first time – from February 11–13 and from February 18–20. Important fact: the contracts with the organization have been extended until 2036, which guarantees a reliable prospect for racing in Sakhir.
History of motor racing in Bahrain
In 2002, construction began on the Bahrain International Circuit (Sakhir). In addition to the F1 events, the race track would also host a number of drag racing, GT races and Formula 3 competitions.
The first Bahrain Grand Prix winner in 2004 was German racer Michael Schumacher.
Before the 2010 season, the circuit was upgraded with a new stretch between the corners, increasing its lap length to 6,299 metres.
In 2011, the Grand Prix did not take place due to the unstable situation in the country and popular unrest.
