About the WTA International Tournament
The WTA International Tournament is an annual series of professional women’s tennis tournaments. From 2009 to 2020, the event was known as the WTA International tournaments.
The WTA 1000 (“Masters”) is one of the most prestigious tennis tournaments, with tennis players receiving 1,000 points towards their rankings for winning. There are several mandatory tournaments in this category: Indian Wells, Miami Open, Madrid Open.
The most numerous competitions are the WTA 500 and WTA 250 tournaments. It is worth specifying that not all wins at these tournaments count towards the rankings.
At the end of the season, the top eight tennis players are selected for the final tournament, where the athletes get a chance to earn a large number of points.
A similar series of tennis tournaments for men is called the ATP international tournament season.
2025 WTA International Tournament
The WTA Tour is the premier professional tennis series for women, organized by the Women’s Tennis Professionals Association (WTA). This tour covers the most prestigious tournaments around the world and attracts the best athletes who fight for titles and important ranking points. In 2025, we can expect exciting battles and new achievements on the world’s largest tennis arenas.
The current season of the international tennis tournament WTA 2025 started on December 27, 2024 January with competitions in Australia. And will end with the final round, which will be held on November 8.
The 2025 WTA Tournament consists of:
- 4 Grand Slam tournaments;
- WTA Final Tournament;
- Tournaments in the WTA 1000, 500, 250 series;
- Billie Jean King Cup;
Favorites of the WTA Tour 2025
Among the main contenders for victory in 2025, of course, will be Iga Swiatek, the Polish tennis player who leads the world rankings. Swiatek continues to demonstrate amazing results, winning Grand Slam tournaments and other prestigious competitions.
Another strong player who may well fight for the title is Aryna Sabalenka from Belarus. She is known for her powerful serve and aggressive style of play. Cori Gauff from the USA is a young star who will have to fight for top positions and a possible title at home tournaments.
We should not forget about other participants, such as Barbora Krejcikova and Katherine Machowa, who can also surprise their opponents and claim high places in the rankings.

2026 WTA International Tournament
Every year, the WTA tour becomes more competitive and spectacular. In 2026, even more interesting changes and improvements are expected for both tennis players and spectators.
New stars and a changed format
In 2026, we will probably witness the emergence of new young talents who will be able to compete with the already recognized leaders of world tennis. Tennis academies around the world are preparing new generations of athletes, and they are striving to break into the top 10 of the world rankings.
Tournament organizers can make changes to the competition format, improving conditions for players and spectators. Perhaps new rules and mechanisms will be proposed to improve the spectacle of matches in order to increase interest in tennis among fans and spectators around the world.
