About the WTA International Tournament

The WTA International Tournament is an annual series of professional women’s tennis tournaments. From 2009 to 2020, the event was known as the WTA International tournaments.

The WTA 1000 (“Masters”) is one of the most prestigious tennis tournaments, with tennis players receiving 1,000 points towards their rankings for winning. There are several mandatory tournaments in this category: Indian Wells, Miami Open, Madrid Open.

The most numerous competitions are the WTA 500 and WTA 250 tournaments. It is worth specifying that not all wins at these tournaments count towards the rankings.

At the end of the season, the top eight tennis players are selected for the final tournament, where the athletes get a chance to earn a large number of points.

A similar series of tennis tournaments for men is called the ATP international tournament season.
