2026 World Series of Poker

The 2026 World Series of Poker (WSOP) will take place in Las Vegas from late May to mid-July. Main events will again be held at Horseshoe Las Vegas and Paris Las Vegas for the fourth year. Organizers plan around 100 tournaments with buy-ins from $300 to $250,000. The schedule includes No-Limit Hold’em, Pot-Limit Omaha, Seven Card Stud, and mixed games like H.O.R.S.E. One of the key highlights is the Main Event starting on July 2, 2026. This No-Limit Hold’em tournament features a $10,000 buy-in and finishes around July 16. The winner may receive approximately $10 million in prize money. About 15% of participants are expected to make it into the payout zone.

History of the Tournament’s Creation and Development

The history of the World Series of Poker (WSOP) dates back to 1970. At that time, the famous poker player Benny Binion decided to organize a tournament to determine the best player in the world and to promote poker as a sporting game.

The first WSOP was held at Binion’s Horseshoe Casino in Las Vegas. Surprisingly, only six players competed for the $30,000 prize pool. The winner was Johnny Moss, who was voted best by the other players.

Over the years, the WSOP has become increasingly popular among amateur and professional poker players. The number of entrants and the tournament’s prize pool grew steadily. In addition, the tournament itself became a symbol of excitement and rivalry in the poker world.

In 2003, the poker world was shocked by the victory of amateur player Chris Moneymaker in the WSOP Main Event, where he won $2.5 million. This triumph brought poker to the attention of millions and helped popularize the game.

Today, the WSOP is one of the largest and most prestigious poker tournaments in the world. Each year, hundreds of players from around the world gather in Las Vegas to compete for the WSOP title and huge cash prizes.
