The UEFA Super Cup is an official football tournament consisting of a single match between the winners of the UEFA Champions League and the UEFA Europa League of the previous season. The Super Cup match opens the European football season.

The names of the participants will be announced following the finals of the European club tournaments in the spring of 2025. However, it can already be assumed that the favorites to participate in the Super Cup match include such giants of European football as Manchester City, Real Madrid, Bayern, Liverpool, Inter and PSG.
The possible winners of the Europa League include Barcelona, Arsenal, Milan, Roma and Bayer Leverkusen – these teams regularly perform at a high level and can compete for the trophy.
UEFA Super Cup is not just a match between two strongest clubs, but a prestigious confrontation of different football styles. The Champions League winner usually represents a top club with an attacking strategy, while the Europa League winner is often a team that has proven its resilience and ability to fight in difficult conditions.

In previous years, this match gave spectators exciting moments. For example, in 2019, Liverpool and Chelsea determined the winner in a penalty shootout, and in 2022, Real Madrid confirmed its superiority by confidently defeating Eintracht Frankfurt.
The 52nd UEFA Super Cup will be held on August 12, 2026. The match will be held at the Red Bull Arena in Salzburg.

The foundation of the Super Cup dates back to 1972. The same year the first match took place. AFC Ajax was the first team to win the Super Cup. Back then, the Dutch players were regarded as one of the strongest teams.

In 2008, a Russian football club won the Super Cup for the first time. FC Zenit Saint Petersburg defeated England’s Manchester United with a score of 2:1.
