About the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix
The Saudi Arabian Grand Prix is one of the stages of the Formula One World Championship, which made its debut in 2021 at the Jeddah Corniche Circuit. The stage is the 5th all-night event in F1 history after Singapore, Bahrain, Sakhir and Qatar.
2025 Saudi Arabian Grand Prix
The 2025 Saudi Arabian Grand Prix: Formula 1 will take place from 18 to 20 April and will be the fourth race on the schedule after the Bahrain round.
History of motor racing in Saudi Arabia
In 2019, plans were published for the construction of an auto complex in the city park of Qiddiya. The construction of the track is being led by former Formula One racer Alexander Wurtz. The first phase of the city park was to be ready by 2022, with an unknown deadline for the construction of the circuit.
In 2020, the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix stage appeared on the provisional Formula One schedule for 2021. In November 2020, it was announced that the city of Jeddah would host the first Saudi Grand Prix. The contract with the local auto and motor sport federation is for 10 years.
International human rights activists oppose Formula 1. According to them, the authorities are hiding behind holding sporting events in order to divert attention from the fact that the violation of the rights and freedoms of the country’s residents.
F1 executives have responded to the activists’ grievances. They claim to take human rights issues seriously and demand the same from the organizers of the events.
