2025 FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup
The 2025 FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup will be held from October 17 to November 8 in Morocco. For the first time in history, the tournament will be organized in an annual format and expanded to 24 teams, making it the largest in the history of the U-17 Women’s World Cup.
Morocco will debut as a host, which emphasizes the country’s growing role in global women’s football. Matches will be held in several cities, and the exact stadiums will be announced closer to the start of the tournament.
The participants will be teams that have passed the selection in their regions. Representatives from all six confederations are already known – among them the USA, France, Brazil, Japan, Nigeria, Samoa (for whom this is their debut in FIFA tournaments) and others.
The tournament format includes a group stage with six quartets, from where the group winners and the best teams that took second place will advance to the playoffs. This event will become an important platform for young female footballers who may reach the level of national teams and major clubs in the future.
History of the competition
The FIFA U-17 World Cup was established under the auspices of FIFA in 2008. Since then, it has been held every two years. As a result, the tournament has become a major platform for discovering the future stars of the female game. Historically, the tournament has been dominated by teams from Asia and North America. As such, it emphasizes the diversity and global reach of the women’s game. New Zealand hosted the inaugural championship. The DPRK team defeated the USA 2-1.
