The League of Legends World Championship is one of the largest and most prestigious esports events in the world. Each year, thousands of teams from around the world compete for the right to participate in this tournament. In addition, the best of the best take to the world stage to compete for the title of World Champion and a massive prize pool. This competition is the culmination of the professional season of League of Legends. Additionally, it attracts millions of spectators, making it a major event in the esports calendar.

LoL 2025 World Championship

League of Legends World Championship 2025 (Worlds 2025) is set to become one of the most anticipated events in global esports. Tournament will take place in China, with matches hosted across three major cities — Beijing, Shanghai, and Chengdu. This will be the 15th edition of LoL World Final, organized by Riot Games.

Competition will begin with Play-In and Swiss stages in Beijing, followed by quarterfinals and semifinals in Shanghai. Grand Final is scheduled for Chengdu. Seventeen teams will participate, earning their spots through regional leagues and Mid-Season Invitational 2025.

For the first time, Worlds will feature Fearless Draft format — teams won’t be allowed to pick champions already used during a series, even if chosen by opponents. This rule is expected to bring more variety and excitement to each match.

Total prize pool for championship is 5 million USD. China will be hosting LoL World Final for third time, confirming its strong position in global esports scene.

Worlds 2025 promises to be a vibrant, large-scale event eagerly awaited by fans around the world.

History of the competition

The first LoL World Championship was held in 2011 at DreamHack (Sweden). Since then, the tournament has become an annual event. Furthermore, it has grown in size and prestige. Over the years, the LoL World Championship has become a world-class event that brings together the best players and teams from around the world.

Each year, the level of competition and prize money increases. Many championship matches have become part of eSports history thanks to incredible games, strategic decisions, and intense final battles.

An important milestone in the history of the Championship was the introduction of new formats and regional qualifications. This made it possible to increase the number of participants and make the tournament even more diverse.
