About the IIHF World Junior Championship

The IIHF World Junior Championship (among youth players aged 17 to 21) is an annual event which has been organized by the International Ice Hockey Federation since 1977. It is one of the most prestigious competitions in the sport, on a par with the Olympic Games and the World Cup.

About the 2022 IIHF World Junior Championship

The 2022 IIHF World Junior Championship will be held from August 9 to 20 in Canada (Edmonton and Red Deer). It will feature teams from 10 countries (Austria, Germany, Canada, Latvia, USA, Slovakia, Czech Republic, Finland, Sweden, Switzerland). The Group A matches will be played at Rogers Place arena (capacity of 18600 spectators), and the Group B games at Westerner Park Centrium arena (7100 spectators).

Six teams (USSR, Finland, Sweden, Canada, USA, and Czechoslovakia) took part. The USSR team ranked first in the tournament, defeating its rivals by a wide margin.
