Superkupa e Shqipërisë (Albanian Supercup) is a single football match played between the winner of the previous season’s cup and the winner of the championship. The match usually takes place at the beginning of the season in the national stadium in Tirana, Albania.
2025 Albanian Supercup
The Albanian Football Super Cup in 2025 is scheduled for December 28. This is a traditional match between the national league champion and the winner of the country’s Cup, which opens the winter part of the season and ends the calendar year in Albanian football.
The exact venue has not yet been announced, but it is highly likely that the match will again be held at the Arena Kombëtare national stadium in Tirana, as in previous years.
The following teams are expected to compete for the trophy:
- Egnatia, the champion of the 2024/25 season,
- and Dinamo City, the winner of the Albanian Cup.
If one of these teams wins the “golden double” (both the league and the cup), then its opponent will be the finalist of the Cup.
Recall that in the last Super Cup draw (in December 2024), Egnatia beat Kukësi with a score of 2:0 and won the trophy for the first time in its history.
History of the Supercup
There is a history of 28 Supercup that have taken place. In the history of such matches, FC Tirana has won most of them with a total of 11. The finals of the Supercups have not been played out on the few occasions when the champion team has won the double. After 2000, the Albanian Football Association changed some rules, since then the Super Cup is played against the finalists of the Albanian Cup.
