About the Masters Golf Tournament

The Masters Tournament (The Masters, or the U.S. Masters outside North America) is the first of four majors in men’s golf. It is held at the same venue each year, the National Golf Club course in Augusta, Georgia, USA, in April.

2026 Masters Tournament

The Masters Tournament will be held April 9–12, 2026, in Augusta, Georgia, USA. It is the first major of the season and gathers top golfers from around the world. The tournament is known for its traditions: the green jacket, Amen Corner, and respectful atmosphere. Amen Corner spans the 11th to 13th holes and tests players’ skill and nerves. The Masters values history, discipline, and elegance. In 2026, fans expect a thrilling contest among the sport’s biggest stars. Golfers will fight for victory, glory, and a place in golf history.

History of the tournament

Before Bobby Jones got the idea for creating a golf course, there had been a plant nursery on the land since 1857. The Augusta National golf course officially opened in 1933. It wasn’t long before the first Augusta National Invitational tournament began, on 22 March 1934. Horton Smith became the winner of the event. He received $1,500 of the prize money. Interestingly, each of the 18 holes is named after a tree or bush.

In 2020, due to the coronavirus pandemic, the tournament had to be postponed to November instead of April.

2027 Masters Tournament

The 91st Masters Tournament, the traditional first major of the season, will be held in 2027. The date and venue of the tournament are still unknown.
