About the Hungarian Grand Prix
The Hungarian Grand Prix is a round of the Formula One World Championship. It has been held annually since 1986 at the Hungaroring circuit near Budapest.

History of motor racing in Hungary
The first event in Hungarian motor racing was the 1936 Grand Prix. The event was held in the centre of Budapest on a 3.1-mile circuit. Italian driver Tazio Nuvolari in an Alfa Romeo car won the race.
Subsequently, there was a big break in the world of Hungarian motor racing.
In 1986, the History of the Hungarian Grand Prix was restarted. For this purpose, the Hungaroring circuit was built. As a result of this event there was an unprecedented amount of interest among fans. 200,000 spectators gathered to watch the race. Nelson Piquet was the first winner of the Hungarian Grand Prix.
The 1986 Hungarian Grand Prix was the first F1 Grand Prix to be broadcast on TV in the USSR.
Since 1987, the Hungarian Grand Prix has been in constant danger of being cancelled. This was due to funding problems, with pilots complaining about the muddy and tense track. Therefore, since 1989, regular updates of the circuit have been taking place.
