About the French Open
The French Open (known as the Roland-Garros) is one of four Grand Slam tournaments held in Paris, France, at the Stade Roland Garros. It takes place over two weeks at the turn of spring and summer. Both male and female tennis players compete in nine divisions: five for adults and four for juniors.
The Roland Garros courts are broadcast live from a huge screen mounted in the centre of Paris. As a result, tennis fans can watch what is happening through this screen.
2024 French Open
The 2024 French Open will be held from May 26 to June 9.
History of the French Open
The first tournament was held in 1891 as a one-day national championship. French athletes and members of French tennis clubs were allowed to participate. Since the tournament had the status of a national competition, during its early years it was not very popular as the best players of the world were not allowed to participate. In 1925 the tournament received an international status and then everything changed. After World War I, French tennis began to flourish.
