The European Baseball Championship (Eurobaseball) is the main tournament among the national baseball teams of Europe. It is held every two years under the direction of the Confederation of European Baseball (CEB).
Eurobaseball 2027
In 2027, European baseball fans will once again unite in anticipation of one of the most exciting events in continental sport: the European Baseball Championship. Organized by the Confederation of European Baseball (CEB), this tournament brings together the strongest teams from across the continent and consistently provides the backdrop for intense competition and spectacular matches.
When and where will the Championship be held?
The 2027 European Baseball Championship will be held in Regensburg, Germany, a choice made due to the city’s extensive experience hosting major international tournaments. Previously, it hosted the 2009 World Cup preliminary round, as well as the 2012 and 2022 World Baseball Qualification Tournament.
Who will take part?
Sixteen teams will participate in the 2027 European Baseball Championship. The full list of participants is still being determined based on the results of the qualifying rounds. Currently, the teams most likely to participate in the tournament are known, based on their recent results and the status of the host country.
- Germany: Automatically qualified as a host nation.
- Greece: Qualified in 2025.
- Netherlands: One of the strongest European teams. They won the 2025 European Championship, guaranteeing their participation.
- Italy: A regular participant in the final stages of the tournament. The team won silver at Euro 2025.
- Czech Republic: A regular qualifier and has shown consistent results. In 2025, the Czech Republic won bronze.
- Spain: The 2023 European Champions make them one of the favorites.
- Remaining participants: Will be determined by the results of the qualifying tournaments, which are still to come. A total of 16 teams will take part in the tournament, 12 of which will qualify through the selection stage, and 4 will reach the final stage from the playoffs.
History of the European Baseball Championship
The greatest popularity of this sport is in the countries of Asia, Latin America and the United States. Interestingly, after 1900, the game of baseball spread maximally. This period is usually called the “golden era” of baseball. The first European basebаll championship was held in 1954. Throughout the history of the tournament, 34 championships were held.
The USSR team took part in Eurobaseball for the first time only in 1990. And in 2001, the Russian national team managed to win the silver medal.
Previously, Eurobaseball was held every two years in even-numbered years, from 2019 – in odd-numbered years. Italian and Dutch teams are leading in the number of victories in this tournament.
