FC Dinamo Tbilisi is the current champion, who continues to dominate Georgian football. A strong squad and an experienced coaching staff make them the main contenders for the title.

History of the Championship

From 1927-1989, the best team of the republic was determined by the results of the Georgian Soviet Union Championship.

The year 1989 was the time when Georgia decided to withdraw from the Soviet Football Championship.

In 1990, 4 amateur teams were added to 12 masters’ teams. All of them formed the Top Division of the Erovnuli Liga.

The FC Dinamo Tbilisi became the Erovnuli Liga champion 18 times.
