2025 Dutch Grand Prix
The Dutch Grand Prix 2025: Formula 1 will take place from 29 to 31 August. This will be the 15th race of the current F1 season.
History of motor racing in the Netherlands
For the first time, a street racing event was organized in 1939 at Circuit Zandvoort. Indeed, the event was a great success. The success of the event convinced the mayor that regular street racing would bring more profit to his town. But unfortunately, the outbreak of World War II made adjustments to these plans.
Eventually construction of the track was able to begin during the war. The mayor told the German soldiers about his idea of building a parade street for the victors of the war. This idea was taken up by the Germans and they began active construction, not even knowing that plans for the parade street were quite different.
The foundations for Circuit Zandvoort were built from the wreckage of destroyed buildings. The circuit was asphalted in 1948. On 7 August, the new racing circuit, named Circuit Zandvoort, hosted the first Dutch Grand Prix. Since 1950 the Dutch Grand Prix has officially been part of the Formula 1 schedule.
