The DreamLeague is one of the oldest and most respected Dota 2 tournament series, founded in 2013. Originally a small studio league with arena finals, it eventually became an important part of the ESL Pro Tour (EPT) World Tournament Series.
Since 2023, DreamLeague has been held under the auspices of ESL and in partnership with Gamers8/ Saudi Esports Federation. In addition to prize money, teams compete for EPT ranking points. These points are used to qualify for the Riyadh Masters, one of the biggest Dota 2 tournaments in the world.
Each season brings together the strongest teams from around the world. Besides, the DreamLeague is famous for its cool broadcasts, fair fights and spectacular matches. Moreover, it is watched by millions of fans all over the world.
DreamLeague in 2026
In 2026, DreamLeague will remain one of the main Dota 2 tournament series within the ESL Pro Tour system. Several seasons will take place throughout the year, featuring the strongest teams from around the world. The tournaments will be held primarily online, and their results will impact teams’ positions in the overall ESL rankings and invites to major events.
The season will open at the beginning of the year and continue in the spring. DreamLeague traditionally serves as an important platform for competing for ESL Pro Tour points and preparing teams for the season’s main tournaments.
Date and Format
Two DreamLeague seasons are scheduled for 2026:
- DreamLeague Season 28 will run from February 16 to March 1.
- DreamLeague Season 29 will take place from May 13 to 24.
Both tournaments include regional qualifiers, a group stage, and playoffs. Each season features 16 teams—both invited and qualified teams based on the ESL rankings.
DreamLeague will continue to play a key role in the Dota 2 esports season in 2026, remaining a stable and important element of the ESL Pro Tour competitive ecosystem.
History of the esports tournament
The first season of DreamLeague was held in 2013. Then it was a regional tournament with the participation of European teams. Each year the tournament grew in size. In 2020, the series became global with the participation of the best teams from all regions.
In 2023, the tournament became part of the ESL Pro Tour. Currently, each DrеamLeague season plays an important role in the Dota 2 esports ecosystem, especially in the absence of the DPC (Dota Pro Circuit).
