Azerbaijan Grand Prix: Formula 1

The F1 Azerbaijan Grand Prix is one of the most exciting rounds of the World Championship held on the streets of Baku, the capital of Azerbaijan. 2026 Azerbaijan Grand Prix

In 2026, the Formula 1 Azerbaijan race will be held in Baku from September 24 to 26. Originally scheduled for September 27, 2026, the date change is due to the celebration of Remembrance Day in Azerbaijan. The round will be the 17th of the 2026 season. It promises to be exciting for fans, as the cars will be running under new regulations: smaller, lighter, and equipped with an updated engine. This should make the competition on the challenging city circuit even more spectacular, especially on the narrow sections that run past the ancient fortress walls and on the long straight along the sea.

History of the Azerbaijan stage

The Azerbaijan Grand Prix made its debut on the F1 calendar in 2016. Initially it was known as the European Grand Prix, but from 2017 it acquired its current name. The race quickly gained popularity due to its unique circuit, which combines historic and modern elements, and the dramatic events that often occur at this stage.

Over the years, spectators have witnessed many unforgettable moments on the streets of Baku, including crashes, sudden lead changes and unexpected victories. In 2017, for example, Daniel Ricciardo took the victory after starting from tenth position. In 2018, Lewis Hamilton won the race after Sebastian Vettel and Valtteri Bottas retired.
