The Asian Cup is a major football competition among the national teams of Asian countries, run by the Asian Football Confederation (AFC). It has been held every 4 years since 1956 and takes place one year after the World Cup.
2027 AFC Asian Cup
The 2027 AFC Asian Cup will be held in Saudi Arabia from January 7 to February 5. The competition will feature 24 of Asia’s best teams competing for the top prize. Games will be held in three cities: Riyadh, Jeddah, and Al Khobar. The stadiums hosting the matches include major arenas in Riyadh, such as the King Fahd Stadium and others. Qatar won the previous tournament in 2023 and will be defending its title.
Cup history
The Asian Football Cup was first held in 1956 in Hong Kong. South Korea’s national team became the first winner of the event and met in the final match with Israel’s national team. A total of 17 draws of the AFC Asian Cup have been held. The national team of Japan has the largest number of victories on its account of 4. Then come the national teams of Saudi Arabia and Iran. They have 3 wins in their arsenal.
