2025 World Women’s Curling Championship

The World Women’s Curling Championship will be held in Uijeongbu, Republic of Korea, from March 15 to 23, 2025. This tournament will bring together the best national teams that will compete for the prestigious title and important points in the ranking before the 2026 Olympic Games.

A total of 13 teams will compete, chosen based on their performance in continental championships and the previous world championship. The tournament will consist of two stages. A round-robin phase, where all teams face each other, followed by a playoff to crown the champion.

Canada, Sweden, Switzerland, and the USA are traditionally seen as the top contenders, but curling is known for its unpredictability. Any team can become a surprise of the tournament and fight for medals.

History of the championship

The first World Women’s Curling tournament was held in 1979. 11 teams took part in the first women’s curling tournament. Switzerland won the championship with a score of 13:5, facing Sweden in the final.

Since 2006, the number of participating teams has risen to 12, from 2018 to 13 and from 2021 to 14.

Each World Championship has featured teams from the USA, Canada, Scotland, Sweden and Switzerland.

Canada has hosted the World Women’s Curling tournament 16 times.
