About the IIHF Ice Hockey Women’s World Championship
The IIHF Ice Hockey World Women’s Championship is conducted annually, except for the years when the Winter Olympics are held.
The tournament is divided into several divisions which include a top division as well as lower divisions where lower-level teams take part.

2022 IIHF Women’s World Championship
The IIHF World Women’s Championship is the 23rd championship held by the International Ice Hockey Federation (IIHF). It features the teams competing in the 2021 tournament. As for the venue, the Championship will be held in Denmark from August 24 to September 6 and will feature 10 teams with seven from Europe, two from North America and one from Asia. In place of the Russian national team is the Swedish national team.
History of the Ice Hockey Women’s World Championship
The first official tournament, featuring 8 teams, was held in 1990 in Ottawa, Canada. Games at the first official championship were played only in the top division. The Canadian national team won the championship for the first time in 1990 and remained in first place until 2004.
