About the European Games

The European Games (Europiad) are regional international sports competitions for athletes in Europe, which are scheduled to take place every four years under the direction of the European Olympic Committees (EOC).

Currently, only the Summer Europiad are held, but it is expected that the Winter Europiad will also be included in the calendar of major sporting events.

2023 European Games

The 3rd Europiad will be held in Krakow, Poland, from 9 to 25 June 2023.

In June 2019, the General Assembly of the EOC was held in Minsk, where it was officially announced that the 2023 European Games will be held in Krakow and in the Małopolska region. 

According to preliminary information, athletes from 50 countries will take part in this sport event. It has been decided that athletes from Russia and Belarus will not be invited to international competitions.

The opening and closing ceremonies will take place at the Miejski Stadium in Krakow.

  • Modern Pentathlon;
  • Paddle tennis;
  • Ski Jumping;
  • Table Tennis;
  • Taekwondo;
  • Triathlon.

History of the European Games

The first Europiad were held in 2015 in Baku, Azerbaijan. The games were attended by 5,730 athletes from 50 European countries and 253 sets of medals were awarded. Athletes competed in 30 sports.
