In Australia, new restrictions on “simulated gambling” games came into effect on September 22. All casino mini-games must now be labeled +18, and a number of restrictions have been placed on in-game purchases with elements of randomization. From 2026, the Australian government plans to partially ban advertising of gambling and betting on television. There will be a complete ban on gambling advertising on social networks.
In Argentina, the mass blocking of unlicensed gambling sites begins. At the same time, the regulator warns that they will soon become even larger and more “technologically advanced”. Recall that the last gambling licenses of Argentina were issued in the summer of 2024.
From October 1, all operators who have not applied for a license must leave the legal market in Brazil. By the 10th, they will be obliged to cease operations and return money to players. In India, gambling operators do not pay taxes. The Directorate General of Intelligence has compiled a list of non-payers, and more than 40% of the companies on it are RMG (Real Money Gaming) operators. Their debts amount to almost 24 billion dollars. At the same time, the authorities specify that these are operators with a license from Malta, Cyprus, Curacao, and “they refuse to cooperate”.
Kazakhstan has a new gambling regulator. Following the reorganization of the Ministry of Tourism and Sports, the Committee for the Regulation of Gambling and Lottery was created. It will develop regulations, analyze information about operators and players, and keep a register of people banned from gambling.
In the Netherlands they want to increase the tax for gambling operators. A gradual increase is planned: in 2025 – up to 34.2% of GGR, in 2026 – up to 37.8%. Currently, the tax is 30.5%. Experts warn that such an increase could negatively affect the legal market and force Dutch operators to leave it.
In the U.S., passions are unfolding around the introduction of a single federal law regulating gambling. Representatives of the gambling industry have come out strongly against the new bill. The new document proposes the introduction of strict restrictions: only 5 deposits per day from a player, a ban on the use of credit cards, additional checks for large payments, a ban on advertising during live sports broadcasts.
Meanwhile, the Philippine authorities want to cut taxes for gambling operators! Taxes for land-based casinos will be reduced to 30%, and for online gambling – to 25%. It is planned that this will help to counter offshore operators, attract more investors and increase the PPK to $6 billion by the end of 2024.
South Korean authorities began negotiations with Telegram to introduce strict measures against the placement of illegal content, including gambling. The messenger agreed to introduce restrictions and is ready to block information at the request of the Korea Communications Standards Commission.
