About the Men’s FIH Hockey World Cup
The Men’s FIH Hockey World Cup is an international hockey tournament for men’s national teams, held every four years starting in 1971.
The Women’s FIH Hockey World Cup is held among women’s national teams every 4 years starting from 1974.

2023 Men’s FIH Hockey World Cup
The 15th Men’s FIH Hockey World Cup will be held at the Kalinga Stadium in Bhubaneswar, India from 13 to 29 January 2023. Sixteen teams will participate in the tournament.
History of the Men’s FIH Hockey World Cup
The first Field Hockey World Cup was planned to be held in Pakistan in 1971. However, the Pakistanis opposed India’s participation in the championship. Subsequently, all the instability led to the third Indo-Pakistani war so the tournament was moved to Barcelona, Spain. 10 national teams took part in the first Men’s World Cup in field hockey. It was the fewest number of participants in the history of the championships. The Pakistani team became the first world champion.

2026 Men’s FIH Hockey World Cup
England, Germany, South Africa, Belgium/Netherlands have announced their intention to host the 2026 Men’s FIH Hockey World Cup. The winner will be announced in November 2022.
