About the Chinese Grand Prix
The Chinese Grand Prix is a colourful F1 sporting event that attracts millions of fans from around the world.
The stage in China epitomises the highest level of professionalism and driver skill, as well as being a unique cultural experience. Racing at the Shanghai International Circuit is considered one of the most technically demanding and exciting races on the Formula 1 calendar. With a mixture of long straights and tight corners, it creates a challenge for drivers and team engineers alike. The magnificent architecture of the circuit, surrounded by modern skyscrapers and traditional Chinese elements, adds a special flavour to the event.
2026 Chinese Grand Prix
After a long break, China will once again host one of the Formula 1 rounds. The 2026 Chinese Grand Prix will be held from March 13 to 15 in Shanghai on the well-known Shanghai International Circuit. This will be the second round of the season, immediately after the race in Australia.
The organizers have extended the agreement with the circuit until 2030, which guarantees a stable presence of the Chinese round in the championship calendar for the coming years. Formula 1 is making a serious bet on the Asian market, and the return to China is a clear confirmation of this.
The 2026 season will feature 11 teams, including newcomers and old-timers: Red Bull, Ferrari, Mercedes, McLaren and others. Stars such as Max Verstappen, Lewis Hamilton, Charles Leclerc, Lando Norris and, possibly, Chinese pilot Zhou Guanyu, if he remains in the peloton, will compete for victory.
History of the stage of China
The first F1 race in China was held at the new Shanghai Autodrome in 2004. Rubens Barrichello, driving for the Ferrari team, took the first victory in the race.
The stage to China was held every year from 2004 to 2019. Then, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the race was cancelled indefinitely. In 2023, the planned Grand Prix of China was also cancelled for various reasons.
In 2024, the Chinese Grand Prix became a platform for the presentation of cutting-edge technologies and innovations in motorsports, highlighting the country’s commitment to development and improvement. This event was not just a race, but a celebration for all motorsports enthusiasts, where everyone could feel the atmosphere of competition and passion for speed.
