In 2023, 3SNET’s “Media Buying: All About Ad Networks” project gathered feedback and advice from industry leaders on the most effective formats and advertising strategies in media buying. We learned which GEOs and formats are relevant, what drives traffic and which tools are budget killers.
However, a lot has changed in the past year, and the ad networks have opened up even more opportunities. That’s why we’re back in 2024 with a new series of interviews and an updated list of participants! Together with new experts, we’ll discuss key trends, new approaches to working with the gambling and betting verticals, new ad formats and the latest data on the most profitable GEOs for directing traffic.
In 2024, Alex Miller, analyst and media buying industry expert, will again be in charge of the questions. PopCash, Mondiad, Push House and Geozo will share their views and unique approaches.
Alex Miller: Popular video and push ad formats continue to attract attention, but what innovations are the industry leaders ready to offer for gambling and betting?
Alex Miller: Popular video and push ad formats continue to attract attention, but what innovations are industry leaders ready to offer for gambling and betting?
With 10+ years on the market, we are an established, self-serve ad network specialized in serving popunders on a global scale and for all verticals. Additionally to being one the cheapest traffic, popunders are super versatile, moulding perfectly to any niche, and particularly to the evergreen betting landscape. Mondiad is an innovative ad network that currently serves classic push, in-page push, native, and banner ads for all countries and verticals via CPM, CPC, and TargetCPA(algorithm) models. When it comes to the betting industry, our most prevalent ad formats are classic push, followed by banners and natives. Push.House offers three main advertising formats: Web Push, OnClick (Pop Up), and InPage. Each has unique advantages and features for promoting gambling and betting offers: Web Push. One of the most popular formats among advertisers promoting gambling and betting offers. This format provides extensive customization options, is well-suited for personalized advertising messages, and allows handling traffic even when users who subscribed to notifications are offline. OnClick (also known as Pop Up). A time-tested, reliable format that ensures rapid reach and high delivery. Many consider OnClick to be too aggressive, but when it comes to iGaming offers, the immediate attention it draws to the landing page is one of its main strengths. This format is also ideal for promotional offer-based campaigns. InPage. An alternative format of push notifications, embedded directly on partner websites. InPage notifications catch users’ attention, bypass some ad blockers, and offer a wider range of customization options, which enhances the user experience and increases conversion potential. A distinctive feature of this format is that advertisers can style personalized notifications and “send” them to users who haven’t previously subscribed to notifications. At Geozo, we prioritize native advertising format due to its undoubtful advantages. Native ads typically generate 85-95% more clicks than banners and achieve 20–60% higher engagement rates. Click-through rates can be up to three times higher than traditional display ads. This year has been pivotal for Geozo, as we integrated with a large traffic source — the News Feed — offering new opportunities for our advertisers. This integration enables us to work with gambling and betting offers, an option that wasn’t available before. Now, our advertisers can access high-quality traffic for these popular offers. What makes the News Feed particularly valuable for iGaming is its flexible ad moderation. It’s an ideal platform for bold, standout creatives that might not be accepted on other networks. You can also use GIF images, long titles, emojis, which can significantly enhance ad click-through rates.
Alex Miller: Campaign geography is the most important aspect of a successful campaign, as it determines not only profits, but also growth prospects. Our experts will help you understand which countries and regions are priorities this year.
Besides the usual big gambling markets of Canada, Australia, the US, the UK, France, Germany and Japan, we note a significant activity in Brazil, Kazakhstan, Bangladesh, China, Uzbekistan, and Nigeria. You can check our up-to-date traffic inventory on our website. Today, our traffic inventory consists of 40 M daily impressions delivered to all screens, around the world, and we continue to see great success with this setup. You can check our ad inventory on our website, in real time. For smaller investments and risks, you’ll want to start with tier 2 and 3 countries, however, if you have experience, tier 1 targeting will provide bigger profits, despite the high competition. Currently, our most popular geos for betting offers are BR, MX, PH, IN, VN, TH, and US (poker), however, note this field is super dynamic. In this sense, we recommend having a quick chat with us to assist you with our latest insights and recommendations, if needed. We have traffic from Europe, CIS, Latam and Asia. Here are some recent daily volumes on our top geos: We’re currently seeing growth in traffic volume in Latin America, so we recommend testing this region while the auction is still not too competitive. The list of GEO leaders by traffic volume on Push.House changes every month. To help our advertising network partners stay informed about which GEOs to focus on when preparing campaigns, we regularly monitor and publish updates in our Telegram channel. Additionally, there’s a “Network Volume” tab in the personal account, where anyone can view the current traffic volume in selected GEOs, as well as check the current minimum, maximum, and recommended click prices in any given country for various devices. This information can assist in planning and optimizing your future advertising campaigns.
Alex Miller: Strategies and terms for advertisers play a key role in choosing ad networks. Our panelists will share their observations and suggestions for driving more traffic.
Arguments often point to high-quality traffic, flexible settings, and extensive analytics as reasons why media buyers tend to favor major traffic sources over ad networks. However, ad networks like Push.House now offer many features that make them an excellent and effective alternative for advertisers. Firstly, ad networks can provide high-quality and diverse traffic that rivals larger platforms. Push.House not only offers broad audience reach but also allows for precise targeting, so you can reach specific audience segments and effectively connect with the target market for each offer. With Push.House, you can segment by country, language, device, and even operating system, allowing for a tailored approach to each product and adaptation of campaigns to specific needs. Secondly, while major platforms are known for offering more convenient and detailed analytics, ad networks today also provide competitive analytical tools. At Push.House, we are continuously working to expand our analytics capabilities so that advertisers can track key metrics, test new hypotheses, and optimize their campaigns in real-time. We understand the critical role analytics plays in maximizing profitability, so we offer users precise and timely statistics on campaign results. There is also a common perception that ad networks provide less reliable traffic quality. Push.House guarantees quality and protection against bot traffic through our advanced anti-fraud system. We carefully monitor traffic quality to ensure our partners receive only genuine clicks and conversions. With Push.House, you can trust in the transparency and integrity of your traffic. In summary, Push.House is a true alternative to major platforms, offering a competitive edge. With us, advertisers don’t need to choose between quality and cost—we deliver optimal conditions for the growth and success of your campaigns. On one thought, buyers tend to mimic what most people are doing, looking for big and/or quick wins, not realising they are venturing where the markets are saturated and competition high. What strategy works for one, will not necessarily work for another. Additionally, in most cases, there is a lack of desire/time/enough budgets to experiment with different traffic options. On the brighter side, betting is a highly profitable vertical, with a large user base and an evergreen popularity. What would make people more aware of its potential is understanding that ad network’s traffic may have some of the least restrictive policies when it comes to betting regulations, and thus a key traffic hub waiting to be explored. Many media buyers still work with targeted ads; however, we’re receiving an increasing number of partnership requests from those who previously focused on Facebook but are now shifting their attention to native ads. With networks like ours, there’s no need for cloaking, no risk of account bans, and no additional software required. This makes the process significantly easier and helps save budget. Recently, we had a very insightful discussion on this topic in a podcast with Denis Denisenko, which you can watch on YouTube if you’re interested. Additionally, we’re noticing a growing interest among media buyers in new traffic sources, so it’s only a matter of time before the industry’s attention fully shifts toward advertising networks. In our opinion, it’s all about compatibility and finding a traffic source that best fits your needs, whether it’s about granular targeting, fast support, optimisation tools etc. In this sense, in more recent times, we have noticed many users are migrating towards CPA, CPL, CPS, and CPI offers, looking for quick sales, but forgetting the conversion process is very volatile, compared to CPM and CPC traffic which is far more predictable and controllable. Our success combo is made of popunders on CPM thanks to their versatility, non-intrusiveness and being a topdog in driving brand traffic.
Alex Miller: What new and useful things can media buyers find in PopCash, Mondiad, Geozo and Push House? It could be special optimization algorithms, unique formats, flexibility in choosing bids or special conditions for top webmasters.
With our new feature — targeting sources into news feed and websites — advertisers can now launch campaigns exclusively on the news feed without using a whitelist. We’re also happy to offer flexible bid coefficients by traffic source, manager guidance, convenient OS/browser targeting, a simple black/white list system, and the option to set up postbacks for tracking statistics in one dashboard. As for some tips, here are our top 3 advices for a successful traffic test on the news feed: Check out the recent cases by our advertisers to learn new strategies: Popunders are perhaps the most cost-effective ad format for driving traffic but their profitability depends on how well they are targeted and optimized. An experienced media buyer will know to always monitor stats and make data-based decisions when it comes to campaigns. We recommend our users to gradually optimize campaigns to granular levels and to playtest segments for fine-tuning campaign performance. Track your data, optimize your targeting, use blacklist/whitelists, dayparting… and again, don’t shy away from asking for help.
Alex Miller: What are some tips and lifehacks to help webmasters get better results? Advertising in the gambling and betting verticals requires careful attention to the choice of formats, creatives and legislation in different GEOs.
We regularly prepare selections with helpful tips for our partners. Contact your personal manager at Geozo to get the latest guide on working with the News Feed. After quite a while on the market, we understand the dynamic industry and are striving to adapt to any project’s particularities as well as providing tailored, fast and friendly support. If possible, we are open to adhering to every user’s needs. We provide a wide volume of quality traffic, for all industries, and devices via a handful of ad formats, to cover all our users’ needs to succeed with their campaigns. In addition, we believe our many in-house performance optimization tools are a great addition to fine-tuning results while our prompt customer care assists with tips and insights when needed. We are “betting” all our money on our TCPA algorithm as a key feature for this kind of market. Push.House stands out from other major traffic sources with several advantages that make it a convenient and effective platform for advertisers. Here are a few key factors that set us apart:
Alex Miller: What should webmasters consider when working with your ad network in the gambling and betting vertical? What GEOs, formats, creatives, legislative nuances are particularly relevant? Share everything that really matters!
When working with Push.House, media buyers should pay attention to several key aspects to make the most of our platform and achieve outstanding results. We aim to keep the process transparent and user-friendly, so you can get the highest return from your ad campaigns. We advise our users to take a full walkthrough of our platform and onboarding documents to understand the full potential of our platform and how compatible we are with their goals. We recommend our users have a good understanding of all the tools and perks the Mondiad platform provides, to plan out the best campaign strategy, and take control of their full potential. Additionally, we recommend chatting with us about anything of concern or interest so we can work together on successful experiences. Start a test campaign and from there we can fine-tune together the optimisations. We offer a wide range of available geos and have a significant traffic volume potential, often exceeding official figures. This is especially important for the news feed: if an advertiser wants to receive more traffic from a specific block, we can negotiate with the source to boost the volume.
Alex Miller: Let’s discuss recent cases and growing trends that everyone working in the field should be aware of. What innovations are making campaigns more successful? How are audience preferences changing?
Naturally, the key is to resonate with your target audience but mind you, the betting audience in Japan will react differently compared to the US segment, and so on. In this sense, personalization remains a successful performance factor, which combined with eye-catching graphics is a great combo. To engage users even more, you can also hop on the latest trend of immersive interactions like VR, AR, or chat bots, as an upgrade to the classic gamification elements ever present in the betting niche. These verticals are trending right now, and it’s clear that interest in them will remain strong for a long time. Everyone is looking for traffic and offers in iGaming. Fortunately, we have impressive volumes available and allow these verticals. However, the main focus for native traffic continues to be on crypto, nutra, white hat, news, and finance offers. The latest hype in betting involves cutting-edge technologies like VR, AR, AI, or blockchain, which innovate how users interact with platforms. Since betting offers are all about the betting experience: welcome bonuses, free bets, exclusive games, cashback deals, loyalty, VIP programs and so on, pairing these elements with the right incentives is your lucky ticket.
Alex Miller: And, of course, pleasant surprises! Readers will receive special promo codes and bonus terms to explore the offers from the networks and test ad formats.
