“We find the fact that esports is popular among young people very encouraging, as esports training helps improve mental acuity, concentration, decision-making skills, and emotional stability—so-called soft skills,” Mr. Paykin said. According to him, esports is also a way for people with disabilities to expand their opportunities, including their sports potential. “That is why we’re looking into possible measures to support esports and create favorable conditions for the national esports industry,” the Chairman of the State Duma Committee added. Mr. Paykin believes that esports can become an alternative to gambling and a treatment for gambling addiction. It helps young people build healthy relationships with computer technologies and cultivates a true digital culture.
