About the Indian Premier Cricket League

The Professional Cricket League in India is one of the biggest sporting competitions in the world of cricket, which is held annually in April and May and gathers hundreds of millions of viewers around it. It is worth noting that the Indian Premier League is popular not only in India but around the world as well. The championship itself is played under T20 rules with the format of the tournament involving a group stage and a play-off stage where the top 4 teams qualify.

IPL 2024

The 2024 Indian Premier League will be held from 22 March to 26May, 2024. Ten teams from different states of India will participate in the championship. The games will be played on ‘home’ ground and away. Thus, there will be more than 70 games played between the athletes. Information on the venue of the play-offs and the final competition will be known at a later date. For the moment, we only know that the title match will take place on 26 May.

History of the Indian Premier Cricket League

It is known that the professional cricket league in India was founded by the Board of Control for Cricket in India in September 2013. The first season of the competition was held on 8 April 2008. The Indian Premier League gained its popularity among locals and international fans quite quickly. This is not surprising as the IPL has been compared to the NHL in terms of coverage.

The prominence of the Indian Premier League has especially increased since the competition started being streamed on YouTube in 2010.
