About the European Summer Sports Championships
The European Championships is a summer sports event that brings together the major European championships in some of the premier sports. It takes place every four years.
2022 European Championships
It is the 2nd European Championships, which will be held from 11 to 21 August in Munich, Germany.
Competitions to be held in Munich:
- Cycling;
- Athletics;
- Artistic Gymnastics;
- Rowing;
- Triathlon;
- Rock climbing;
- Table Tennis;
- Beach volleyball;
- Rowing and canoeing.
History of the European Summer Sports Championships
In 2015, the European Athletic Association, European Swimming League (LEN), the European Cycling Union, World Rowing Federation (FISA) and the European Triathlon Union (ETU) agreed to organize their championships under one event, the European Championships. They were later joined by the European Gymnastics, PGA European Tour and Ladies European Tour.

2026 European Championships
Preliminary information suggests that the 2026 European Championships will be held from 30 July to 9 August 2026. The venue is still being finalized.
