Last year, the highest number of searches containing the word “Bitcoin” in Russia was made from the Chechen Republic. Nenets Autonomous Okrug and the Republic of Dagestan were in the second and third places, respectively. Residents of Mordovia were the least interested in the cryptocurrency. These conclusions are drawn from Google Trends data.

In mid-March, there was a surge in the number of search queries when the cryptocurrency exchange rate fell by half to $3,800.
Since then, interest in Bitcoin has decreased by almost three times—from 100 to 40 points (the minimum of 36 in the week of 21-27 June). On a year-on-year basis, the decrease was quite sharp as well—from 84 points in the week of 7-13 June 2019.

Russia, out of all countries in the world, has the keenest interest in Bitcoin. Ukraine is in the second place. Kazakhstan, Belarus, Georgia are among the top ten. Residents of India, France, USA, and Italy are the least interested.

It is worth mentioning that the price of Bitcoin remained almost unchanged in May-June 2020 fluctuating between $9,000 and $10,000.
