- The Fonbet bookmaker was ranked first. The company’s revenue increased by 58% and amounted to 38,063.6 million rubles in 2019.
- The 1xStavka bookmaker—with the revenue of 10,672.7 million rubles and a 50.7% year-on-year increase—took second place. As of this year, 1xStavka has a client base of 1.67 million registered users.
- The Liga Stavok bookmaker had revenue of 49,464.8 million rubles in 2019—significantly more than the above-mentioned bookmaker. The company, however, got only 1.01 points in terms of business efficiency (1xStavka earned 20 points) their annual revenue increased by 37% year-on year. Given the complex approach of the analysts, Liga Stavok was ranked third.
A record in terms of revenue growth was set by the Parimatch bookmaker. The company’s revenue surged by 868% in 2019. In 2019, net income of all bookmakers whose activity was analyzed by Forbes amounted to 32.2 billion rubles. In 2020, they were expected to experience a 30-50% drop in their net income, but by the end of November, it fell by just 10%. It is worth noting that bookmakers often sponsor sports teams and tournaments. Russian bookmakers also pay regular mandatory contributions to local sports bodies. Russia’s Ministry of Finance has recently announced a twofold increase in the size of these contributions. This decision might force some bookmakers to leave the industry or limit the variety of sports they accept bets on.
