Telegram 2023: +5 changes

In February, Telegram developers fixed more than 400 different flaws in its apps for various platforms. In addition, they introduced new handy features, such as a power saving mode, playback speed settings, and convenient invitation links.

• The messenger developers are making updates and publishing information about them all the time: these are the top 10 changes of Telegram for 2023.

Telegram’s power saving mode

The Telegram app is supposed to run quickly and smoothly. Indeed, all animations and visual effects have been optimized for this initially. But now there’s an option in the settings to turn them off completely. As a result, this will save battery power and improve the performance of the device: 

• power saving mode can be activated automatically at a certain charge level;
• it is possible to choose which effect to disable;
• in the iOS app, it is also possible to disable background chat updating;
• in the Android app, after testing on 200 different models, the optimum default settings have been set.

How to select media playback speeds?

Telegram users can choose the speed to play videos, podcasts, voice and video messages. To accelerate or slow down the speed, you need to press the button and select the desired value from 0.2x to 2.5x.

To change the video recording speed, tap the icon, select “speed” in the menu that appears and move the slider.

Message reading time

According to research, Telegram is one of the most popular messengers among Russians. At the end of 2022, it ranked first in terms of time spent on the platform.

In groups of up to 100 people, it is now possible to see the time at which a message was read by each of the participants. This is expected to allow for more efficient coordination.

Invitation (is) impossible to deny!

Settings > Privacy > Groups and channels

Invitation links in Telegram just got more convenient! Users can now choose who can add themselves to groups and chats instead of just setting a ban.

If you try to invite users who have been banned from adding themselves, you can send them a message with an invitation link.

In chats, a preview of invitation links is now available: you can immediately see where they lead to.

Localization of bots in Telegram

The developers have prepared translation of the bots’ descriptions to allow their localization. The new feature will help you translate the description and “What can this bot do?” section into different languages.
