A new dating service, VK Dating, has been added to the VKontakte mobile app. It allows people to express their liking for a person in their VKontakte profile, as well as to find a couple for friendly or romantic contacts based on their musical preferences.
- “VK Dating” is based on the Lovina app, which VKontakte launched as an experiment in 2019.
You can express your feelings by using the “liking” button in the profile of the person you like. The expression of affection is anonymous – the sender’s name will be revealed to the recipient if the liking is mutual, or if he or she purchases a premium subscription in VK Dating.
The main feature of the service is that it selects people with similar musical tastes by compiling lists of artists whose tracks users listen to most often. These can be edited manually by adding and removing artists. Algorithms also unite users by age, distance and interests, from reading and choreography to surfing and blogging.
For now, “VK Dating” is available in the social network’s app under the “services” tab, but it will soon appear in other products in the VK ecosystem. Finding a match is free, but there are additional paid options:
- superlikes, which allow you to add a comment to a liking – you can compliment or describe your emotions immediately;
- premium subscription, which allows you to see the names of all the people who have sent likes, return to previously viewed profiles, get likes without limit, set five superlikes per day.
In the future, it is planned to add community and meeting matching, so you can find a friend to go to a concert, festival or art lecture, discuss your favourite books or even meet a business partner.
