VPS (Virtual Private Server) is a technology that allows a single physical server to serve multiple users, each with their own dedicated resources. The resources are CPU time, RAM and disk space, which are limited by the total capacity of the server, but are allocated to the users so that each gets their own guaranteed resources. These resources do not overlap with other users, providing isolation and consistent performance for everyone.

Let’s look at this in more detail:

A VPS can be thought of as an office building where each user has their own office with their own keys. Everyone has a certain amount of space (resources) and none of your “neighbours” can enter your office or use your space. You can customize your office the way you want without worrying about anyone else influencing what you do.

Each user on a VPS gets their own dedicated resources: CPU time, RAM and disk space. This means that if one user starts to actively use their resources, it won’t affect the others. Your ‘office’ (VPS) is isolated and protected from the actions of other users.

VPS gives you more control and flexibility than regular shared hosting. You can install any programs, customize the server to your needs, run websites or applications. It is a sort of golden mean between shared hosting and a fully-fledged dedicated server.

However, there are some drawbacks. VPS requires some technical knowledge to manage the server. In addition, although VPS provides dedicated resources, they are still limited by the physical server on which they reside. For high resource requirements or complex tasks, it may be necessary to rent a dedicated server.
