Mobile traffic

Publication date: 14 Apr 2023

Mobile traffic refers to transitions to a website, social media pages and/or any Internet site and certain actions (purchases, subscriptions, registrations, apps, etc.) conducted with a mobile device.

If a user enters a website from a mobile device, this is usually the result of triggered advertising, which is part of mobile marketing. Essentially, all advertising that can be seen on a smartphone, no matter where: on a website, in games and mobile apps, SMS or as a push notification is considered mobile.

Thus, if a user has viewed an ad containing a link and clicked on the site, it has become mobile traffic.

According to global statistics for the last 12 months, the distribution of traffic use is as follows: 58.52% comes from mobile traffic, 39.41% from desktop and 2.07% from tablets. Statistics for 2022 in Asia show that 68.66% is mobile, 29.85% desktop and 1.49% tablets. In Europe 49.56% is mobile traffic, 47.89% desktop and 2.55% tablets. And in Africa 74.04% is mobile traffic, 24.68% is desktop and 1.28% is tablets.

What is Mobile Traffic Arbitrage?

Mobile traffic arbitrage is the promotion of any goods and services using mobile traffic for a fee (payment or commission). Media buyer gets a CPA offer from an affiliate network and looks for a profitable way to promote it so that the user could see it from his phone or tablet.

Types of mobile traffic:

  • In-app is advertising traffic from mobile apps. For example, a user launches any arcade game that is not free and between levels he sees a video clip or a banner that suggests installing another game.
  • Push traffic. These are the transitions of users who clicked on a push-notification and opened a website or a landing page.
  • SMS marketing. These messages can contain a bonus or a chance to win. Such a mailing can give a good response in different verticals.
  • Contextual advertising is advertising that is shown to the user when they enter a search query or navigate to a site with specific content and the relevant ads are shown to the user.

3SNET provides a large number of offers from advertisers that welcome mobile traffic.
