From April 16 to 17, 2026, the island of Rhodes will host the 22nd International Conference on Technology, Knowledge, and Society. This year’s special theme is Human-Centered AI Transformations (TKS). The focus is on how digital technologies and artificial intelligence are changing education, culture, daily life, and public systems.
The event brings together researchers, educators, developers, and policymakers. Their goal is to discuss how AI can support, not replace, human experience.
You can attend in person at the University of the Aegean or join online. The conference is offered in a hybrid format.
What to Expect at Human-Centered AI Transformations
Unlike technical expos, this conference focuses on real-world cases and ethical design. Participants will share experience, explore best practices, and discuss how AI can be inclusive and context-aware.
Topics include:
- How AI can expand access to education and reduce the digital divide;
- How “knowledge societies” are evolving under platforms and Big Data;
- How new technologies affect social norms, values, and institutions;
- Why building open systems matters—and what challenges remain.
Main Conference Themes Human-Centered AI
- Histories of Technology: How technologies reflect and shape social systems.
- Knowledge Makers: The role of AI, metadata, digital media, and human expertise in creating knowledge.
- Social Realities: How digital change affects sustainability, inequality, privacy, and identity.

- William Cope and Mary Kalantzis, University of Illinois, USA.
- Dr. Chryssi Vitsilaki, former Rector, University of the Aegean, Greece.
- Spyridoula Stamouli and Vassilis Katsouros, Athena Research Center, Greece.
- Yannis Mastrogeorgiou, Coordinator, Greek National AI Committee.
